He asked him if there was intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.

The Japanese Fishing Industry assured the media that they were fishing whales for research purposes.
Listen to the word, then type its correct spelling.

The presidential candidate made mistakes during his speech. Listen, then answer true or false about what he said. أخطأ المرشح الرئاسي في خطابه. استمع، ثم أجب بصح أو خطأ عمّا قاله.
Notice the difference in the pronunciation of that. When "that" introduces reported speech it is usually unstressed, but when it is used as a pronoun (meaning "that thing") it is usually stressed. Click the word "that" only in the sentences where you think it is stressed, then check. لاحظ الفرق في نطق كلمة "that": عندما تُستخدم لتقديم كلام منقول تُنطق بلا نبر، وعندما تُستخدم كضمير (بمعنى "ذلك الشيء") تُنطق بنبر. اضغط على "that" فقط في الجمل التي تظن أنها منبورة، ثم تحقق.

or anything like that = or other similar things; used so the speaker doesn't have to give a complete list or explain in more detail
hoax = a plan that is designed to trick someone else

When you write an email to report an event and give information or directions:

How to find us: Head southwest on Bloom Street toward Main Ave. Turn left onto Main Ave. Take the 2nd right onto Hinsdown Street. Continue on Hinsdown Street for 3.1 miles toward North Ave. Enter the hospital grounds from North Avenue and take the first right for the emergency entrance. Patients can be dropped off at the door.
Parking: Well Hospital has an underground ramp garage adjacent to the hospital. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Rates are charged on an hourly and daily basis. Purchase an exit ticket from the cashier before you leave.

We can use negative questions to check information or express surprise.

Indirect Questions الأسئلة غير المباشرة
Use indirect questions when you ask for information. There is no inversion of the subject and verb in indirect questions.

Use so and too when you agree with an affirmative statement. Use neither and either when you agree with a negative statement.
